Regret is maybe too harsh a word.

Let's just say you'll find this article written by Disney expert Jim Hill VERY interesting...

http://www.aladdincentral.org/articles/careful.html

A semi-long read but well worth it.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I slogged through the whole turgid story and have to wonder what on earth you found "well worth" reading that thing for. I barely pay attention to stories like that but there wasn't a single detail I didn't know already. Then I looked at the dateline and realized that stupid article is over five years old.

Seriously, Capn. Let the Disney stuff go. What do you get out of reading five year old articles about cartoons?

And there's so much spurious crap. The line about the popular joke that hinged on signing a check with four fingers. Among whom was that joke popular? And then the BS about the success of Mrs. Doubtfire giving Williams's second wife credibility and allowing her to no longer be the butt of jokes.

Total crap. Just within the past year a person on this very site was trashing her for the way their relationship happened. As in high school, that poster must "not have gotten the memo" that that people weren't saying that anymore.

Thanks, Capn. I hadn't heard about that. (Then again, I was 6.)
