I'm having trouble finding this on the internet, because when I type in a question, of course, any site with the word 'where' comes up. So, I just have a question, and if anyone could provide me with an answer and a possible link to where you got the answer from, that'd be great!
Where is the best place to get Micro Dermabrasion done? The spa, a plastic surgeon, or a Dermatologists' office? Thanks!

Why would you type in a question instead of just micro dermabrasion in a search engine?
Why would you want to know where to get one done?

oh, wow, I don't know. Maybe because I'm interested in getting it done?
That was hard...

I guess I just don't understand paying someone to scrape my skin layer away.

I suppose a dermatologists' office would be the best. I mean, they're the ones who should *really* know what they're doing, right?
I have pretty good skin, but I had it done a few times in an attempt to clear some of the small blackheads out of my nose (sorry, gross, I know). It didn't work at all, but the dermatologist was very clear in stating that it's a procedure that works for some and not for others.
Good luck -- it's pretty expensive!

I don't think it's necessary to do the surgeon route. Although the person doing the procedure should be liscenced. I was thinking of doing it myself, but instead found some great home products that work the same as the Microderm process. I am a man - so it may be slightly different for you (I am assuming you are a woman!) but Nordstroms and Macy's carry Lab Series for men which I use faithfully. They just came out with a product called skin resurfacing scrub, and you follow it up with a skin revitalizing cream and it works great. In fact - it's so gentle that you can use it twice a week - but I only do it once a week, and use an exfoliating scrub once a week and I can totally see a difference. I see that Oil of Olay has a similar two step process available, and from the commercials I gather its very similar. You could also try asking at the beauty counter at Macy's - maybe even ask for a demo in the men's dept and see if they can recommend a women's product. Lab Series is put out by Estee Lauder, so I bet they have one for women too. The cost for both products is around $60.00 and they last for about two to four months depending on how often you use them.

Or was he the guy that did that to Jocelyn Wildensteins face?
he's the subway ad guy.
The DIY products are okay, but it's much better to have a professional do it with the super expensive machine. I have done both and the machine is far superior. I have a friend that owns a spa and she does micro derm parties for my friends. She uses an abrasive that has diamond powder in it. (She only charges us $40 each, which is a STEAL.) If you are going to do one of the at-home kits, Neutrogena has a great kit with a hand held device and an exfolliant cream. It's probably the closest thing I have found so far.

If you decide to go with a at-home treatment, be very wise and cautious with what you choose. Micro-D truly is a great thing for people's skin. If you decide to go with an at-home treatment here are some that I would recommend:
Lancome 2 Step Micro-D with Vitamin C Serum $85
Now, mind you I am a make-up artist and skin specialist for Lancome, so of course I will recommend it, but it truly is a great product. Its light, not too harsh, and sooths the skin well with the Vitamin C Serum. It works on ALL skin types, but those with very sensitive skin need to only use it once a week as it can be irritating to sensitive cells.
Olay Micro-D
This also is a two step process. YOu finish it off with a heating serum that dissolves the Micro crystals. It works nicely oily, normal/combination, and sensitive skin. If you have dry skin, DON'T use this. It doesn't have enough water-binding agents to keep your skin hydrated. Another perk to this one is that it only costs around $20.
Some tips with the Micro D sets:
Also follow up with a light moisturizer! Many people are scared of moisturizers because they feel as if they will clog they pores and cause break outs. The only thing a moisturizer does is to seal the poor so that any moisture that is in the won't leak out. You have to have moisture in your skin in order for the cells to function and reproduce properly. Also MAKE SURE that your skin is slightly wet with water so that you can get even more moisture locked there.
Never ever use a Micro-D system more than 3 times a week. And never do it two days in a row.
Irritation to the skin causes the cells to become weak and speeds up the aging process!
TO ALL OF YOU!!!! Do not leave the house each morning before putting a some form of SPF. It has to be SPF 15 or higher. For you women, that means using a moisutrizer with an SPF 15, and a foundation with an SPF 15. Men: They are many great after shave lotions with SPF 15 to use on your face. Most people don't realize the harsh effect that the sun has on your face. There is no way to reverse the aging process. Wrinkles are scars...plan and simple. The only way they can be altered is through plastic surgery, and eventually that wrinkly will just form again years down the road.

I've had micro d in a medically affiliated spa 3 x once w lazer. Skin will feel abit tight after oc sl reddish but looks great later that day. AB so slute about the spf & moisturiser. Its a bit pricey but is a great short term pick me up esp for a big night/day. OH and make sure the towel round yr head is tight or u have an elastic cap- the dust gets right into yr hairline & is difficult to get off w/o a complete shampoo.
