"RALEIGH, North Carolina (AP) -- A disciplinary committee says North Carolina prosecutor Mike Nifong will be disbarred for his handling of the Duke University lacrosse rape case.
"This matter has been a fiasco. There's no doubt about it," said committee chairman F. Lane Williamson.
Before the decision was announced, Nifong's lawyer said Nifong believed he should be disbarred.
The disbarment quickly followed a disciplinary committee ruling Saturday that Nifong broke numerous rules of professional conduct during his prosecution of three Duke University athletes falsely accused of rape."

Posted: 6/17/07 at 12:50amThe strange thing (well, amoung many strange things connected with this case) is that prior to the Duke arrests, his record as a DA was actually pretty good. Then he comes along and pulls this. One of the radio commentators down here in NC suggested that he threw the case like this because of some blackmail involving himself and a "professional associate" of the woman who made the initial accusations. Given how weird everything connected with this case has been, it's certainly not out of the realm of possibility.

That is interesting Sean. I had no idea his record was that good. he bungled this case so badly there must be more than meets the eye.
