One of the greatest actors on the planet.
For the best performance I've seen from her (so far), rent "Damage" with her and Jeremy Irons, Juliette Binoche and Rupert Graves (she was nominated for, but robbed of winning an Oscar for it). She's called it her "Greek" role and she's right -- there's a 5 minute scene from her in the last 20 minutes of the film that's as great a performance as anyone has ever committed to celluloid. So powerful and intense it's actually hard to watch.

Posted: 12/9/04 at 10:06amI adore Miranda. She's been one of my favorite actresses for years. I'm hoping against hope that she shows up to the Phantom premiere on Sunday so I can actually see her!

Posted: 12/9/04 at 10:14amMargo, I can pretty much recite her "Greek" speech in Damage from memory. I adore that performance of hers. Although for me, she's always going to be Queenie in Blackadder II. She is great in Crying Game too.

Posted: 12/9/04 at 11:48amI have always loved Miranda Richardson's work. In 1992, she appeared in 3 films- The Crying Game, Damage and Enchanted April. She was completely different in each one. Her range is amazing! I loved her final Greek scene in Damage- it rivaled the scene delivered by Beatrice Straight in Network (when she stomps on William Holden's character).

Posted: 12/9/04 at 12:41pmA terrific, underrated comic/tragic actress. Years ago, there was a rather tepid TV version of "Old Times" with John Malkovich, Kate Nelligan, and Ms. Richardson. She blew Nelligan and Malkovich off the screen.

Posted: 12/9/04 at 12:53pmI think she's great in everything she does, even the voice work as Mrs. Tweedy in "Chicken Run". I'm looking forward to her as Rita Skeeter in the next Harry Potter film. Of course "Enchanted April" will always be my favorite though.

She is fabulous, and looks gorgeous. I hope I look that good when I get to be her age.

Posted: 12/9/04 at 2:02pmWhat about Sleepy Hollow? Loved her in that too. Such an underrated actress. But maybe that's a good thing. At least she's not in every other movie released, like the ex Mrs Tom Cruise.

Posted: 12/9/04 at 2:55pmHello, her guest stint on Ab Fab is so funny. She played an old friend of Edina's who has recently had a baby and must deal with what motherhood has done to her perfectly arranged world.

Posted: 12/9/04 at 4:28pmI love her in Sleepy Hollow, especially when she has that long monologue near the end of the movie where she more or less explains the mystery to Christina Ricci.

Posted: 12/9/04 at 5:29pmI am not sure it should be aired anywhere. Ab Fab is LONG past its peak.

Posted: 2/23/05 at 2:29pmI just had to bump this. Last night I went to see a show last night and in the bar beforehand, Miranda Richardson was at the next table to me. She was wearing tracksuit bottoms, a t-shirt and a cardigan, had her hair down and no make up on and she looked absolutely flawless.

Borstal: Some people get AB FAB here, on BBC America. Plus, it will be released on DVD.
I love her, she's brilliant.
