she might have been a "special correspondent" on the show instead of a co-host...and whose sexuality?!?!

the best beauty pageant/DW moment was when Julia defined "the night the lights went out in Georgia" at Suzanne's class reunion (i think that was the occasion).

Actually, Tx...it was at the Miss PreTeen Atlanta contest that Mary Jo's daughter was in...Suzanne was coaching her.

The reunion episode is several seasons later...it's called "They Shoot Fat Women, Don't They."

Okay...any Golden Girls info you need?

www.imdb.com reports that Leanza was a theme park performer as Ariel, then Miss FL, then Miss USA. It also lists ET as several of her credits, appearing as "herself". In terms of their marriage, his imdb page says this:

His wife, actress and former Miss America Leanza Cornett, gave birth to their first child, a boy named Kai Harper Steines who weighed in at 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was 21" tall. [February 19, 2002] 2nd son Avery James (AJ) born [November 4th, 2003]

oh yeah, and Julia goes "terminator" on someone at Suzanne's reunion about something...i was thinking it was one of her beauty pageants, but it could have been another subject. Somehow, i always preferred DW to GG. Though GG has its moments.

If I do remember correctly, Leanza's husband is quite the hottie (or at least last time I saw him on television).

Doodle quick - "Dorothy, you're out of the club!"

I've just been thrown out of a unauthourized Elvis fan club. I'll try to pick up the pieces and go on with my life!

Steines is indeed very attractive. His last news market prior to ET, I worked for a retail store part-time and he shopped there for clothes. Really a very nice guy. When he left the market for ET, the "goodbye" story related how he got his start on-camera because he was the cameraman for a national convention (or maybe just "Super Tuesday" in Iowa---where he went to college) and the crowds kept mistaking him for Tom Cruise. The station gave him a reporter spot, and his career took off from there.

I had not heard anything about Leanza's sexuality. I think the reason I recalled her is because I had a friend who worked with her at Disney and was so excited when she won the national pageant.

He aint bad! Odd haircut.

Tx, the night the lights went out in Geor-gia! speech was during the miss preteen atlanta contest.

Julia didnt attend the reunion. She just confirmed to Suzanne that she was fat.

Okay, now I am embarrassing myself.

TxTwo, Heather Whitestone was the deaf Miss America. Her married name is McCallum. She now has cochlear implants to correct her hearing loss.

There is a book called "Yes You Can Heather" written by, I believe, her mother, which details the choices her family made in her education as a deaf child. It is actually very interesting.

Thanks, DBILLY. Maybe it was the publication of her book that made me think she was one of those hyphenated last name types.
