Monologue Please!!!!
#0Monologue Please!!!!
Posted: 1/8/06 at 4:00pmI'm auditioning for an arts magnet school in my area and I'm required to memorize a 2 minute monologue from a play (not a book or written by someone I know). It should be age appropriate and for someone in their teens (13-around 16 would probably be best. Anyone have any good monologues. It would be wonderful, Thanks! and I need them ASAP because the audition is in May. Oy vey!

hehe, good for you. you should see some of the kids in my classes, memorizing in the morning for an audition they have after lunch.
but since you do have until may, take a day and go to a bookstore or drama bookstore if you have one, or hell, the library, whatever. and just read plays. read as many as you can, look for plays with characters of your age, and then you can either find a monologue or piece together dialogue if it works. rarely do you get 4 months to look for material, you're lucky because you can pick something you're in love with to do, and you can read the whole play, which is a great luxury and will really help you with the part.
in my opinion, the best place to start would be 'the effects of gamma rays on man-in-the-moon marigolds.' have fun!
