Hi all, I just thought I'd ask for your opinions on somthing. I need to have a 'comedic' monologue ready to perform within the next little while, I've got a few options but theres this one monologue I prepared for an audition a while ago. At first it seemed to be serious with comedic elements but at the audition it was recieved more as a comedic piece then anything else. Heres the link to it: http://notmyshoes.net/monologues/phil.html
thoughts? WOuld it suit a monologue thats supposed to be comedic? thanks in advance!

Noooooo. Have you read the play? This is funny, because I actually JUST did a scene from the play for acting class where I played Phil. He is so insecure and alone and depressed about everything, and while there are definitely funny parts of that monologue, I think it would work better to let those comedic moments pierce through the dramatic essence of it.
I've thought about doing this monologue as well, and if I did it I would definitely pair it with a contrasting funny one, not a dramatic one. I'm sure you could work it to be mostly comedic but it'd be entirely out of the context of the play. Which you should read, it's a great play with a lot of great scenes (if you are ever looking for age-appropriate acting scenes).
