Leader of Al Qaeda group in Iraq was fictional, U.S. military says
BAGHDAD: For more than a year, the leader of one the most notorious insurgent groups in Iraq was said to be a mysterious Iraqi named Abdullah Rashid al-Baghdadi.
As the titular head of the Islamic State in Iraq, an organization publicly backed by Al Qaeda, Baghdadi issued a steady stream of incendiary pronouncements. Despite claims by Iraqi officials that he had been killed in May, Baghdadi appeared to have persevered unscathed.
On Wednesday, a senior American military spokesman provided a new explanation for Baghdadi's ability to escape attack: He never existed.
Brigadier General Kevin Bergner, the chief American military spokesman, said the elusive Baghdadi was actually a fictional character whose audio-taped declarations were provided by an elderly actor named Abu Adullah al-Naima.

Yeah it's more a "how stupid is George Bush?" thread than a "How much of a liar is George Bush?" thread.
But I'll take this chance to ask: Did you hear, we captured the #2 man in Al Queda today! For those of you counting at home, this is the eighteenth #2 man in Al Queda we've caught or captured. We still can't get the #1 man, but maybe if we're told we've caught #2 (Slogan: "I try Harder!") enough times we won't care.
Al Queda is now interviewing for a new #2 man, the 19th in the last 5 years. The job is becoming increasingly harder to fill as the average #2 man lasts about 8 weeks in the job before being killed by American soldiers, usually somewhere outside Tikrit. Retired Actor Bill Walker, best know for playing "Ensign Henderson" on the old Star Trek series, was contacted by Al Queda to see if he would consider taking the job. "They called me because I played the guy at the console on the left in 8 episodes. Kirk would send me down to the planet and I'd get killed, usually in the first 2 minutes. I was killed by those Black & White Checkerboard Aliens, the ones that looked like Kohlrabi and the Horta. They figured this job was right up my alley. I told 'em no. The wife doesn't like me to travel so much."
Abu Ben Asra-malla, HR Director of Al Queda says he is confident they will have a new #2 in place by August 1st. "If we need to, we will call Account Temps to get someone in here. It's not a difficult job. You make the occasional appearance and wait to be killed or captured by Americans."

They just found out Wed that this guy didn't exist. And now they're telling us, not covering it up, so what's the problem?
