Someone leading a somewhat banal life is diagnosed with a terminal illness and given a very dire prognosis compelling them to liquidate all their assets and live out every fantasy they've ever held. At some point during this blissful state a discovery is made that the diagnosis was false only after this person has spent all the loot.
The resolution of course is that someone who always loved this person in the past but didn't step up has to travel the ends of the earth in search of the lead to deliver the time honored line of "but I always loved you just the way you were". The couple inevitably ride off into the sunset together.
