Movie Trivia

What actor turned down a role only to play the same role in a similar film about 40 years later.

The former film had 2 famous actors turn down a different role in the film.

re: Movie Trivia

Too generic.

That question could probably be answered by every actor who lasted at least 40 years in the business.

re: Movie Trivia

Dammit. I thought I had it, but I looked it up to make sure and it doesn't quite fit.

I thought it was Richard Harris who turned down the role of Commudus in The Fall of the Roman Empire, a part that eventually went to Christopher Plummer. Then in 2000, obviously, Harris played Marcus Aurelius, Commudus' father, in Gladiator. I thought maybe Harris had turned down Aurelius, but of course he would have been far too young for that part in 1964.

Close, but not the same role. But the years fit. 1964 and 2000.

re: Movie Trivia

No, Commodus was played by Joaquin Phoenix. Both Harris and Phoenix are so incredible in that film. Brilliant performances.
