So, I finally got to see the film today and I can honestly say I witnessed the best performance by an actress in a film this year.
Yes, I saw "Walk The Line" and I do think Reese made great strides and accomplished very much in her acting, but it pales in comparison to Ms.Dench's Mrs.Henderson. And, this is coming from someone who loves Reese.
But the Dame is in great form in this movie. She simply exudes class and wit and her comic timing is so spot on that you can't help but just love her as she steals into your heart.
The film itself is a wonderful story both happy, sad, funny, witty and encouraging...and with a touch of nudity thrown in. Mrs.Henderson starts out in search for a hobby and winds up developing a great love for her country and especially her girls on stage. Being inspired by the untimely death of her son she makes sure that all of the British soldiers never suffer the same fate he did. (That being: Dying without having seen a naked woman in real life.) But, throughout the film the bored Mrs. Henderson throwing her money into the theatre for the fun of it, blossoms into a woman who refuses to let anything knock her down...not even the German army.
All of the acting in this film us superb, my only problem was with Will Young. I just didn't like the way he played the character, nonetheless he did an OK job with it.
I left the theatre truly touched by this heart-warming film and loving Dame Judi Dench even more than I already did.
If you haven't seen it yet...I strongly urge you to go.
Had you done a search you'd find out that many of us have seen it. There are at least 5 threads about the film already. At least.
All of my searches never display Off-Topic threads.
So, I made one mistake.
Sue me.
Do you click the search that's at the top of the off topic board, that ONLY searches the off topic board?
Uh huh.
I liked Dench better than Witherspoon, but absolutely not more than Huffman.
