Music Questions?

Just throwing my post out again. If anyone has any music questions regarding music selection, audition material, or any of that just let me know.

If you need anything transposed... Let me know...

Looking for music... Let me know...

Haha... I'm a pianist here in NYC and I have lots of knowledge to pass along if any one has any questions... And I have lots of music if you are looking for something.

What's the best audition song for a high baritone/ low tenor male

re: Music Questions?

That's a rather vague question...

What is the audition for?
How old are you?
Where are you auditioning?
What are you hoping to get out of the audition?
Who is casting it?
Who's the pianist?

Let's start there re: Music Questions?

re: Music Questions?

okay, I have a question..

I have two auditions coming up.. one for children of eden and one for smokey joes cafe. I am a 19 year old caucasian female.. alto belter.. character actress.. Ive done two show with the group who is doing smokey joe's and Ive had ethnic roles in both(asaka in ooti and joanne in godspell) I know there are gospely songs in smokey joe's and Im thinking thats one of the reasons that the director chose the show. Basically, I need audition songs for both shows.. usually I dont have a problem coming up with audition songs but I have horrrrible allergies and Ive been coughing and congested for weeks no medication really helps.. I cant hit any of the awesome belty notes that Id normally be able to hit. so since Im already an alto with a pretty low range, this poses a problem.. I need a song for smokey joes and a song for children of eden (I dont know all that much about this show). theyre very different shows so I was planning on using different songs.. any suggestions? (other people are welcome to suggest as well..)

re: Music Questions?

Hello...

I have an audition for Mamma Mia and I need two contrasting male pop songs for a 24 year old... I guess an up-tempo and a ballad? I have a light tenor voice with belt but I'm used to singing more lyrical so I'd like to show that too... I have no idea what time period to draw from, and I would value any ideas!

Thankyou so much!

re: Music Questions?

Sorry, I've been out of town for a while, but I'm back in NYC now.

Let me know if you need anything, transpositions, arrangements, music, advice.

I can usually do a 24 hour turn around on transpositions and my rates are reasonable.

Let me know if I can help.

Easiest way to get in touch with me is at BroadwayScores@yahoo.com I don't check this thread very often.

re: Music Questions?

Mmm... got any audition material (or just songs to work on) for a 17-year-old female non-belting soprano? I don't have a ridiculously good upper range, but it's fairly flexible. No belt whatsoever, though. Thank you in advance re: Music Questions?

re: Music Questions?

I'm auditioning for Little Sally in Urinetown and I have one possibility for a song (My New Philosophy) but i'd like other options.
I'm 18 years old with a belt up to E. Preferrably up-tempo songs.

re: Music Questions?

I write lots of music but I find that it's easier for me to write big, powerful numbers than soft, sweet songs. Any advice?
The rain we knew is a thing of the past -
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

re: Music Questions?

That's an interesting problem, but not an uncommon one. Big sweeping powerful songs are easy to write, it's all we ever hear. Remember when writing a song that content dictates form. If you are writing about a big huge powerful moment than that's what you are going to get in the music. But if you are writing about a small, internal, personal moment you'll get a softer sweeter song.

What types of topics do you write about.

Also I've gotten a lot of new music so if you guys are looking for anything let me know.
