Music Splitter Program

Since everyone was so helpful with my Zen question, I figured that I'd ask another question.
(Actually, I would have included it in my earlier post today if I had remembered about it).

I am looking for a computer program that splits music. By this, I mean two things:

1) If I have a Broadway Recording, and the tracks bleed into each other, is there a way to merge the songs together to form one song (example--first two tracks off of Aida...one ends and the other begins and they share music.) so that it won't sound weird on the computer when one ends abruptly or starts abruptly?

2) Is there a program that works in the OPPOSITE direction and pulls songs APART? Example--I have all 10ish hours of Wall-to-Wall 2005 w/Stephen Sondheim that someone on BWW (I think Matt?) was nice enough to give to everyone here in ten chunks last year. Is there a way for me to split these chunks into individual songs so that I don't have to listen to a straight hour-plus at a time?


I figured that someone at this forum probably knows the answers to the above questions considering the fact that we all care so much about music!

Are you on a PC? Windows Movie Maker can do all of that.

It's been a while since I've had to do any music editing, but "back in my day" I used Soundforge. It can be used to merge and split tracks.

Also, if you have access to an Apple, their software is really best for multi-media editing.

I use wavepad

WMM is great- you can split and combine tracks.

When you want to save an individual track, just drag it down to the "movie" and save it individually. They'll all be in WMA, but that's easy enough to convert.

I would recomend CakeWalk. I use it to blend songs together, cut them apart, the whole bit. And it is very easy to use.
