Rosalyn Rebecca Horn-Bloom passed away peacefully in her sleep last night at 11:20PM in the company of the love of her life, my Dad Conrad.
She would have been 82 next month.
In 11 days they would have celebrated 65 years of marriage.
When she had three children, she went back to school to get her BA and MA in Education, and went on to teach, and then be a principal in San Jose USD.
She was an accomplished pianist, oil and watercolor artist, champion pool player (women's doubles) quilter, needlepoint, knitter, basically anything she tried she was an expert in.
The only things she could not do is swim, or sing as she was tone deaf...and I always teased her about that.
I sat with her on Friday just holding her hand, and watching the beautiful view of the ocean and mountains outside her hospital room. She squeezed my hand several times during that time.
Luckily, yesterday morning I called Steve and put the phone up to her ear for him to talk to her. I could tell from her eyes that she could hear and understand him, and the last words I heard her say was a very garbled "Bye-Bye" when I took the phone away from her ear.
She was simply an amazing woman, who had a long loving, and successful life.
And I never, EVER beat her in Scrabble...and I've decided that's okay (even though I hate to lose).
Our loss is Heavens' gain.
I am bringing home a photo book of their early years, and I'll post some pix once I scan them.
Thank you to those of you who have been there with me through this.
Scott, Son of Rosalyn
I'm hugging you from afar. My prayers are with you and your loved ones.

A beautiful tribute- so nice that you got to spend so much time with her so near the end.
This is a beautiful tribute and I thank you for sharing that. I'm sorry for your loss.
It's really apparent that you loved her a lot. Don't think for a second that she didn't know that. You couldn't have given your mother anything better than that.
My family and I are keeping you and yours close to our hearts.
