Just some shameless shilling for my upcoming production. This week the production enters into tech hell.
I'm playing the role of George Antrobus.
BackStage Theatre Company presents the Pulitzer Prize winning comedy
The Skin of Our Teeth by Thornton Wilder. The Skin of Our Teeth
previews March 1 & 2, opens March 3, and runs through April 2, 2006,
Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 P.M. and Sundays at 3:00
P.M. Performances are at the Chopin Studio Theater, 1543 W. Division
Avenue in Wicker Park, Chicago.
Directed by BSTC Artistic Director Brandon Bruce, The Skin of Our
Teeth is the satirical story of the extraordinary Antrobus family
down through the ages from the time of the war (any war). They have
survived flood, fire, pestilence, the seven year locusts, the ice
age, the pox and the double feature, a dozen wars and as many
depressions. “The play couldn’t be more timely,” says Bruce. “These
days, our world is plagued by two things: catastrophes (natural or
otherwise) and fear cultivated by our media and political leaders.
Skin fights back at both of these with a message that giggles and
guffaws in the face of both disaster and fear.” Ultimately
bewitched, befuddled and becalmed, they are the stuff of which heroes
and buffoons are made. Their survival is a wacky testament of faith
in humanity.
The 15 person cast, many of whom play multiple roles, features
BackStage ensemble members Ron Kuzava, Michael Pacas, Eric Paskey,
Sean Sullivan, Rebekah Ward-Hays, and Seth Zurer. They are joined by
Edd Fairman, Steve Hickson, Elizabeth Hope Kohart, Madeline Long,
Peter Navis, Nicole Pellegrino, Melissa Riemer, Megan Frei, and Eva
Swan.
BackStage Theatre Company strives to present original plays, Chicago
premieres and fresh interpretations of established works in the
belief that this personal relationship will continually foster an
expanding theatre audience. In the wake of the wildly acclaimed
Denise Druczweski’s Inferno, BackStage continues in its 6th season of
production after an extraordinarily successful 5th season featuring
Jeff Recommended Terra Nova, and an enormously popular production of
Anton in Show Business.
Tickets for The Skin of Our Teeth are $15 and $12 for
Students/Seniors. Group rates are available. For ticket
reservations and more information on The Skin of Our Teeth, call
