What kind of item is that? I know I could Google but I am at a strange angle to my computer right now.

The Nexus 7 is a 7 inch tablet computer. It runs on the latest android operating system Jelly Bean and has a quad core processor. it's gotten unanimous favorable reviews across the board. And it's relatively cheap at $199.00.
How would you compare/contrast the quality of the display to the 'retina' display that the other folks sell?
In regards to the display I'm not a good person to judge because I don't have the best eyesight in the world. But to me the display is rather stunning. For some specs here's what someone said in their review:
The Nexus 7's 7-inch LCD display has a 1280x800 resolution and Gorilla Glass to protect from scratches. The HD display is also 216 ppi, not quite the 326 ppi of the Retina Display iPad, but in all honesty, it doesn't even matter. All text and images I looked at were sharp and completely clear of blur.
That makes sense to me. There's a kind of self-affirmation that comes from having 'the best', but I think I can muddle through with 216 ppi. Especially for under 200 bucks. I'll take the money I save skipping the iPad and put it towards the latest plutonium-enabled, hi-def, 70" screen at home, where I actually watch things in an environment in which superior resolution matters.
If you're a shill--congratulations: you just made a sale...
haha No, not a shill. I'm loving the speed and fluidity of the operating system. I don't think you'll be disappointed. The only big decision you'll have to make is how much memory you need. I got the 8 gig because I won't use it to store a vast music collection and I'm not a gamer.
