Best movie I've seen all year, besides Little Miss Sunshine and Thank You For Smoking.
Visually stunning with a phenomenal cast, Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy deserve every accolade they get.
The audience was mostly African American, mixed in with old Jewish ladies, all of whom had seen the show on Broadway. Very spirited audience - I love a crowd that claps for the screen (it deserved it - it was a VERY good screen.)
My one qualm with was with the fact that throughout the film, I found myself saying "oh, I know him!" or "Wow, great part for her!" The actors were too recognizable and it detracted from the whole thing. The entire theater's bursting out laughing from John Lithgow's stupid hairdo shouldn't have happened.
But hey, it was entertaining. Well worth the $10.25.
