Just got an email from the president and they are double matching any contributions to the Red Cross and the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund. For every $1 up to $1000 that we donate, they will give $2.
Rock on!
They are even saying if we make a contribution to another relief fund (besides these two), they'll still make a match to one of them.

and when the state librarian of Louisiana put out a call for computers for people to file FEMA reports to start getting help, we sent 10 full computers to the State Library in Baton Rouge

It's not a contest, Elphaba.
But thank you to both of your companies.

No, it's not a contest, but I think it's a matter of pride people feel.
I moan and groan about alot of things regarding my company, but when it comes to situations like this, I have only praise for them.
My company (telecommunications) supported the Shelter From the Storm concert with toll-free calling, call centers and employee volunteers. We're providing toll-free calling and 10 call centers at no charge to the producers of the concert.
The call centers are staffed by 1,000 of my fellow employees who are volunteering their time to answer the phones and record pledges. From the time e-mail notification came out looking for volunteers for this effort, to the time notification came out that they didn't have any more available seats, was oh, maybe 20-30 minutes.
The companies foundation also donated $1 million to the American Red Cross; they're matching employees' donations of at least $25 each to the Red Cross. Our employees have already donated more than $454,000, and the company's program contribution so far is exceeding $900,000.
There's also a Disaster Relief Fund, which was created to help our employees and retirees who are directly impacted by the hurricane.
The company has also donated 35,000 PrePaid Phone Cards, each good for 30 minutes of long-distance calling. These were distributed to hurricane survivors by the Red Cross and Salvation Army; free long-distance calling from as many as 1,000 phones set up by an ad hoc coalition of telecommunications companies in Houston at the Astrodome for evacuees from New Orleans and surrounding areas and numerous laptops donated to the Red Cross. The equipment will be used at various shelters across Texas.
Our Internet and data networks have remained in service without interruption from the hurricane, and the company has provided five Emergency Communications Satellite Units that have been used by the Louisiana State Police, Louisiana National Guard and other military and civil emergency-communications authorities in Mississippi and Louisiana.
The corporation did the same when 9/11 happened and countless other awful disasters.
Am I proud to be associated with them? Damn straight, I am.
