Ack. So I'm in the middle of my corporate-office-space-day, and bored out of my mind. I can't listen to music anymore - no one can, thanks to a strategically made decision to keep us all more focused on work. Grr. I never understood the movie Office Space until I started working here...now I understand the whole beaiting up the computer with a baseball bat thing:)
Who else here works in the corporate world?
Not quite the corporate world, but I definitely have a case of the Mondays
If I couldn't listen to MP3's from my computer, I would probably start looking for another job. That's awful.
I can't imagine that the "music actually helps me focus" argument hasn't been made, but it's true.
Oh honey, that argument has been made. We even argued that we would willingly use headphones, but they thought that would be a a distraction too. GRRRR!
Sigh, to be able to listen to Ragtime...
Ha! Yes, it's totally a case of the Mondays.
UGH......thank GOD I don't work in our corporate office in Michigan....it's the same there.
I telecommute from home.
Magic, I feel your pain.
On the other hand it would be nice to work somewhere where there wasn't a screaming cat always trying to lay on my feet.....
Oh, I would love to have a cat around:) And I'm from Michigan.:)
what part of Michigan? I used to live in the Corktown area of detroit, right by Old Tiger Stadium.....loved it
Alpena/Lansing. Sweet:)
ah.......MSU FINAL 4, YEEHAW!
Yep, sitting here staring at cubicle walls.
No music. Porn filters on the internet.
Sometimes I'm not sure how I get through.
What, Johnpapa...The Internet is for Porn?
and is it bad that I graduated from MSU, and don't know my own school's fight song, yet I know the U of M song?

I'm in college and I have no idea what the school song is.
Oh my god, do I hate life right now. I work for Comcast cable in the billing and collections dept. doing outbound calls...so you can probably imagine all the rude people I have to talk to.
Everytime I get somebody who picks up the phone and starts to bitch I just want to say "WELL IF YOU PAID YOUR F-ING BILL I WOULDN'T BE CALLING!!!" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
But enough of that, I'm just happy to know that even though I didn't get my hair cd today, it might come tomorrow!
time to take out that old baseball bat and start beating the photocopier again. hehehe. (not that i would know because i'm a student and am currently unemployed. but i have seen the movie.
)
lol, I didn't got to MSU and I can sing that fight song in my sleep.........I've always rooted for ANYONE over Michigan, lol
It's also a rather unique fightsong, which is why I like it

Even though it allowed music, my one office job showed me I'm not very well-suited to office jobs.
And yes, I'll probably be in a cubicle after graduation. Bleh.

I had seen Office Space before I started my office job and thought it was funny, but I didn't realize HOW real it was until spending 9 hours a day there. I love my job, but I'm glad my major won't have me working in a cubicle. My coworkers and I talk about it sometimes, and every day last summer I had to fight the urge to hit the fax machine with a bat.
I got to talk to some interesting people on the phone, though.
