I just went for an audition for Assassins, and I went in for the part of Sqeauky Fromme---and I'm a big fan of the show, and know enough about the character to read the scenes with clarity. And the director just totally pointed me in the wrong direction the entire time, turning Fromme into this giant bitch and he just called and told me I didnt get the part. And I'm pissed----this really would be a good role for me.
Sorry, I thought maybe you guys/gals would understand!
That's too bad, I've been there though, I know what you mean. Better luck next time!
Thanks...I dont usually get this pissed. But I just know I would have done the part justice. Oh well, next time there are auditions for Assassins...
I hate when that sort of thing happens...But perhaps it wasn't meant to be and there is something else waiting to soak up your time...
Eh..I highly doubt that. Perhaps I should listen to my mother, and quit my Musical Theatre career for a life as an English teacher....
Nah, there isnt enough singing/dancing in that industry.
Don't say that! I always think "Should I listen to my mom and just teach music, spending my days conducting a chorus..." No way! The stage is the place for me, and I'm sure for you. Don't let one audition get you down! Keep at it

Please don't give up on something you love over one audition...each opportunity is a chance to learn something about yourself as a performer...and doing a job you hate or are unhappy with will never improve your quality of life...
Now, how would one go about "conduction a chorus"?
relish in the thought that the show will be not as great as it could have been because you are not a part of it!
Oh Priest, such a bitch
Just joking you know.
And I edited it
Agreed KMF, I always think that :-P
sorry lil fish
it sounds like the director was being untrue to the character, when you were the one that knew what you were doing. it sucks not to get a part you really wanted, i know. here's a success story: i know someone that was considered to be in the assassins revival, but then 9/11 happened and the show was called off. she was out of work for a while, but now she's not only on broadway, but in a big fat successful show that stars a drag queen and interracial couples. so you see... there is hope.
