NAACP Awards - A Good Show

Fantasia just rocked a moving song. Wow. Even Oprah looked at the camera from the audience and mouthed, "Wow". I'll even go as far and say small tear welling for me. Monique and so many there are in great spirits and just celebrating. I am happy and proud to be witnessing this as a dumb white guy.

Taye Diggs won for Kevin Hill. Idina wasn't there, but he thanked 'his beautiful wife' at the end of his acceptance. Jesse L. Martin was nominated in the same category too.

Chris Tucker is all manly looking now and is a great host. I wish he had done the Oscars too.

This is an awards show other award shows should look to for inspiration.

Look at my avatar to see the pic of Fannie holding her NAACP AWARD! When she was singing her song, Kerry Washington was bobbin' her head lookin' like she was about to cry.


I wonder why Idina wasn't there? His thank you to her seemed like an after thought...

Yeah, they dug up Chris Tucker where the h has he been?

I don't know but he looks good. And seems well.
I saw that too with Kerry. That made me emo' for a 'mo too.

Anyways, I think Taye was just playing cool and perhaps just to the point, rushed through a little bit. And I'm sure it still is somewhat still maybe awkward that he's married to her with others opinions that don't sway affect deep down inside. In that audience, maybe it's still a little daunting to say thank to her and be thinking, which brother is gonna dog on me with their eyes even. And not just because she's white, because she's hot too. I dunno. I'm not articulating well.

The show is so entertaining.

Idina probably wasn't there due to the RENT filming. It's quite possible that there was a scheduling conflict, especially since Taye's part is a bit smaller.

As for his thank you to her being an "afterthought", winning an award is a big deal. Once you're up on that stage, it's really easy to blank out. After all, when Hilary Swank won her first Oscar, she totally forgot her husband...and they're still going strong. And I agree with sipos about the whole race thing. It's quite a unique set of issues to deal with.

I just get annoyed at speculation like that. It's almost like people WANT couples to fail.

Well said, Kimmy. People forget a lot. And to be honest, someone's spouse doesn't really help them win the award at all, in most cases. It's more of a silly formality for them to be thanked, anyway. Please. They're not getting divorced or whatever people are going to turn this into.

Anyway, congrats to TAYE!

yeah, he was probably just rushed and flushed with whatever thoughts.

Oh, I didn't know if I was spoiling anything for anyone, but I think this is live, so. Uh, I can't think of the laws of time zones and if live is live for everyone right now.
Wait. Yes, I lived in Chicago, we watched the ball drop on New Year's and then waited an hour. But we celebrated at the same time watching them first so ...

Kerry had a nice speech. Yay for Regina.
Kimberly Elise looks amazing.

Kimmy, did you watch the awards? Taye looked like he had a stick up his butt all night long. I don't know what's going on with Taye and Idina. I'm just reporting what I noticed. Jesse L. Martin wasn't there so it could be a Rent thing, who knows? Both our explanations are speculations though/
