I went. Same here about the winning... and we only had one nomination but since everyone from South County who won went to my school (our school split in two to create South County) it was nice to see people I know win.
Did you go last year? I personally thought last years performances were stronger.
And about the senioritis song. It was pretty much how it is every year...cute.

South County did awesomely...I was so excited for their performance, but it didn't WOW me like I thought.
I agree, this year's performances kind of dragged..but it was my first gala, so it was fun.
I was bummed about Senioritis -- I'm on the creative team and was so excited. I think the song was overdone. But the show is pretty cute overall.
Word is that Molly Dickerson is going to do the next reading, so I'm excited just to meet her -- she was fantastic & def. deserved the win!

Another performance that didn't wow me as much as I expected was the jekyl and hyde(i'm sure I spelled that wrong) one. He was good, but I guess I was expecting better because I read their reviews they got. Maybe it's because I was sitting up in the balcony and I just couldn't feel the atmosphere.

I agree 100% about Jekyll & Hyde...especially when he won Best Actor & Best Song. But my friend said that in the context of the show it was AMAZING.
To me it just looked like he swung from side to side..nice to, well, evil.
But he did have an incredible voice!

Posted: 6/6/07 at 2:51amMy high school was there, although I didn't go. How was "Ain't It Good" from Children of Eden, if anyone saw it? I was blown away when I actually saw the show, but then when they performed it again at a concert a few nights before the gala, I was... well, a little less impressed.

I don't like Cappies.
High school theatre shouldn't be about awards.

Posted: 6/6/07 at 11:34pmHehehe... I agree. I did some Cappies stuff when I was in high school and high school theatre really should NOT be about awards. I will admit, however, that it got people excited and motivated about theatre, which can't be bad, can it? It's kinda like Spring Awakening opening a new generation to musical theatre.
