Posted: 9/30/08 at 10:52amSo, is anyone else audtioning for NFAA this year? I know it's a huge thing at my school and we usually get about 2 semi-finalists each year, but is it big at other schools? What pieces are you doing for auditions? Are you doing straight theatre or musical theatre? I'm doing "Always True to You" and I think I'm going to do a monologue from either "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" or "Angels in America"...not sure yet.

Yeah we usually got 3-6 finalists for theatre that went to Miami, and about 15 more semi-finalists that got money for theatre. It is a big deal, but not what should make or break you. There were some really bad people, and some completely fantastically amazing ones, but it really does depend on your tape!
PA Highschools tend to know more about it,but people from the middle of nowhere usually have no idea what it is!

It was big at my HS, but it's pretty much a crapshoot as to who gets awards/ to go to Miami. Sometimes I have a feeling that they maybe watch or listen to at most 30 seconds of each Video or CD.
I'd still say to do it, since you never know!
