I live in NYC but don't know much about those tours. I have some friends visiting this weekend and they would like to take a tour. I remember a few years ago they had Duck tours departing from Times Square. Are they still there ? Some sites are selling tickets but others say it was discontinued. Also, are there bus tours leaving from Times Square throughout the day ? All I can find online are 3-hr tours (at a minimum) that leave at 9 AM and that's too early.

Any information would be appreciated.

Are you just interested in bus tours or all kinds? Circle Line runs boat tours around Manhattan. You can catch that at the piers at the end of 42nd street. I forget number, but it is to the left of The Intrepid, going from the streets of Manhattan.

Water tours are good too. I am actually looking at the Water Taxi tour, but Circle Line is a possibility too. Thanks.

Be careful of those 3 hour tours. It's been very stormy in NYC -- Gilligan, Skipper, Professor, Ginger, the Howells and Maryann

Grayline does various tours. Is that what you are looking for? Are they looking for the hop on/hop off type?

Also, Big Onion has theme/neighborhood specific walking tours.

Goth, I was looking at the Grayline tours but it seems all of their 3 or 4 hour tours have a departure time of 9 AM and my friends are not getting here until noon.

They are basically looking for a short bus/boat tour that they could take in the afternoon. Ducks tour would be perfect but I am not sure that they are still running them (different websites say different things).

I think Water Taxi tour would be our best bet. Good point about the weather being so stormy lately, but luckily the weather forecast for Saturday looks good - for now.

siny, no they have tours that start later.

Here's one that is good. Their loop tours are good, and they can hop off anytime they see something interesting.

"Goth, does not it depart at 8 AM ?"

No, the 8:00 am time is just when the first bus leaves. They have several buses looping the city throughout the day.

Call Gray Line and ask them how often their buses depart.
