I'm graduating high school in June and couple of us want to go to NYC in June, except we are all paying for college next year and we are on a budget! Does anyone have any good advice or hints? Any info would be greatly appreciated! We would be arriving on a Saturday and leaving on that Tuesday.
Thanks!
Stay in a hostel. They are always cheaper than a hotel. Check out hostelworld.com for those. They range in price, depending on where you stay. I think you can even cook in some, so you could do that instead of eating out a couple of times. If you want to see shows, you probably will be able to get student rush tickets. If that fails, there is always the lotteries for some shows or the TKTS booth.

Triple post-How weird.
I've never stayed at a hostel, but a cheap (and from what I hear, safer) place to stay is the YMCA West Side. It's located a block away from Columbus Circle so it is walking distance to Broadway theaters (20 blocks) or take the A/C train for a quick drop-off. The YMCA West Side are private rooms but community bathrooms. Some rooms have private baths. Some rooms have bunkbeds, others have double beds, but the standard is a single full size bed. They are very basic with bed, TV, desk, closet, lamp.
For tickets to shows, student rush/general rush/lottery/TDF/TKTS.
For food, fast food is your best bet BUT some other sit-down places and delis can be just as cheap for better food. The YMCA West Side also has a little eatery downstairs.
It doesn't directly relate to your being on a budget, but this is possibly the most helpful thread in existence:

How many of you are going?
If you are considering going the hostel type route, I have read good things about this place:

I stay in a hostel every time I go to NYC that's hald a block off Times Square---cheap, clean, and I've never had a problem in 12+ times staying there (and I share a room with others!)
