NYC visit Emergency

My friend and I are visiting NYC from the 5th through the 12th and we were planning to stay with a friend we have there to save money, but she just cancelled on us at the last minute.

So, does anyone have any suggestions? We're on such a shoestring budget that we can't even afford a hostel. I mean, I'd even venture to ask if anyone could offer their place to us (we're both 19 year olds, who are going to be out from about 6:30 AM to 11 PM and we're very conscious and quiet) but I know that'd be creepy.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Hang around the Times Square arcade and look for a photographer.

If they can't afford a $35/night hostel I don't think they can afford the Pod, Tiny, which starts at $185 for their dates

Since you are now in this predicament, could you either shorten your trip a little or maybe adjust your budget? I know neither sounds great, but at least you could still go.
