what is this with the RENT songs popping into my head today. When I read the subject for this thread, I started singing, "Back at NYU? No No No. I rewired the ATM at the food imporium, to give an honorarium to anyone with the code."

NYU is one of the schools i want to go to too...its kinda a tie between nyu and columbia. I just want to go to school in the city (even though out of state tuition is crazy). Is NYU a really hard school to get in (stupid question)?

From what I've heard you don't get any real time on a stage at NYU because there are so many students. Also I have heard that if you go you just end up going through the system and being cranked out as an exact duplicate of everyone else (but this is true of most conservtories)
My major probably wouldnt be in theatre, but the school of business. Any info on that? I went to the site and it didnt really give me anyting i didnt know.

It is not that I am against it, but it is so expensive and there are so many schools out there that can give you the same training...near more regional theatres. If that is where someone wants to go, than they better go there. Do not let anyone tell them not to.

I LOVE NYU so much. I was actually hanging in the area today. I am planning to go to Steinhardt and although I would love to major in Musical Theatre because it is my only passion I want and feel taht it's necessary for me to have a backup and everything for money. (or at least my parents are telling me i have to)
My brother goes to Stern, so chinkie azn, you can PM me with any q's. Stern, the business school is the hardest to get into, and is extremely great.
I'm also looking into Barnard, yet i don't think I can get into there, and I'm more sure of NYU cuz they have majors that seem to fit me more, where as Barnard, you get a Columbia degree, but they don't have the "norm" of majors that you'd see at most colleges. If i was accepted there I would go into their Liberal Arts program and do there theatre on the side.
How much is annual tuition for an undergrad degree for a local at NYU? I vaguely remember it being exhorbitant for foreigners - somewhere in the 6-digits?!?
I was thinking about NYU, but probably would never have a chance there considering a low SAT score (1050)...
Is NYU really worth it? They charge an arm and a leg for tuition (as do many schools), but there are probably many opportunities other than NYU that you can get the same quality education for a better price.
One of my teachers said you should apply to at least three schools. The first school should be somewhat of a reach for you - for me, it would be NYU. Your next school should be one you are a bit confident you possibly could get into, but not 100% sure. Who knows? And your third school should be one you are positive you can get into.
If you ask yourself why you want to go to NYU, and your answer is solely because of its location, then consider other options.
Bragging rights. Big priority.
Good god. And you're a local? (American citizen - is that considered "local" for US universities?)
Is there a different tier for within the state/out of state/out of country?
