She was very good in FLOWER DRUM SONG.
Why didn't she become a mega star?

She probably didn't become a big star because at that time the opportunities in the US for Asian-Americans in show business were so limited.
Hey, wait a minute, they still are!

Well that stinks!
Nancy was talented and sexy.

Loved her in FLOWER DRUM SONG.
My best friend found an L.P. of hers.
She was special.

Love Miyoshi and Nancy.
Did you see Pat on Broadway PJ?

NO! I did NOT see Flower Drum Song on Broadway!!
And contrary to popular belief, to paraphrase Margo Channing, I was NOT watching Our American Cousin the night Lincoln was shot!

I was not OLD enough to be taken to Flower Drum Song.
I was, however, taken to Las Vegas, where we stayed at the Rat Packy Sands Hotel and saw Debbie Reynolds and a titty show that left me cold, to my father's annoyance.
However, upon seeing the marquee at Caesar's Palace, my voice raised several octaves and I exclaimed, "Juliet Prowse? Juliet Prowse! JULIET PROWSE in SWEET CHARITY! Mommy, Dadddy, PLEAAAAAASE!!!"

I love it! I saw her do 'If My Friends Could See Me Now' on tv once and she was real perfecto.
She used to take ballet class at Stanley Holden's in LA too.
So did your folks take you to SC PJ?

Yes. My mother had gone to see it on Broadway with her Tuesday evening theatre group (Sally, Gert, Harriet, Estelle, and Dotty). She said they all loved Gwen Verdon.
I sniffed and said, "Gwen Verdon? Please. Isn't she a bit LONG in the TOOTH to play a hooker?"
My father slammed his Crown Royal down onto the nightclub table and said, "That's IT! The kid's going BACK to Little League!"

You laugh. But I preferred to spend my Saturdays lip-synching to musicals, not running around chasing after baseballs.
"A baseball diamond is HARDLY a girl's best friend," I told my father, who was not ordinarily a violent man.
