mmmk. The answer to this is probably very obvious, but I've clearly missed it somehow. Why wasn't "The Chronicles Of Narnia" nominated for the Best Original Score Oscar? Because I think it's phenominal.
Oscar Noms 2006
I mentioned the same thing on the Oscar thread. I'm bummed it's not nominated. Same with Goblet of Fire, it should have had a nomination also. Along with the song "Magic Works."
I wondered the same thing. The Narnia score is my favorite for the year and I'm quite surprised it did not receive a nomination.
The Goblet score is nice, but I was a little sad it wasn't Williams. But Doyle was an excellent choice. You can hear his variations of some classical standards, though not as blatant as in some of his other scores (Fievel Goes West, Misery). The diversity of the score is stunning and Neville's Waltz deserves to become a classic on its own. I did appreciate the nod to Hedwig's Theme, but I really missed some of the iconic themes Williams created that I associate with the films.
Does anyone know why Alanis Morrissette mispronounces "wunderkind"? It drives me absolutely insane. I love the song until the point where she says that word and it just ruins it for me. Wunderkind (the actual word) and "wonder-kind" don't really conjure the same meaning.

I have no idea why she pronounces it that way, I was actually wondering that today myself.
I loved the score to Narnia, but my friends laughed at it while we saw that movie. Oh, and William Moseley is HOTTT!!
I also loved the Goblet of Fire Score, but I think that I am just a huge Potterhead, so anything about the movie I loved.

I'm also sad that Narnia was snubbed in this category. I listen to that soundtrack at least once a day, and I really enjoy the fact that Harry Gregson-Williams used non-conventional instruments along with the usual orchestral ones to create a sound that was, as stated in one of those behind-the-scenes video clips, "fit for an entirely separate world." Or maybe it's just because I happen to have a soft spot for New Agey-sounding stuff.
the track that takes the cake for Harry Potter is definately the huge climatic part at the end of "Voldermort" as well as Cedric's death music. So, so, so beautiful!
Family fare was really snubbed this year - Charlie/Choc. Factory, Narnia, Harry Potter... not much for any of them.
The score to NARNIA was absolutely undeserving of a nomination. I couldn't stand the score - it couldn't get any more generic. The second worst score of the year, next to KING KONG. Just BLAH.
Next to the films that actually DID get nominated, it was nothing. Have you guys heard the gorgeous, beautiful, amazing, and sometimes haunting scores of GEISHA, MUNICH, BROKEBACK, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, etc.?
The only omission I'm upset by is Thomas Newman's score for CINDERELLA MAN, which was leagues better than that from THE CONSTANT GARDENER.
