If you know of any of the smaller "side street" type street fairs put on by little Neighborhood Block Associations in Manhattan please post them.

Not the big 10-12 block commercial street fairs, but the little ones where neighborhood folks sell their own things. These often have great deals.

I'm trying to collect some stuff to give to a charity at reasonable prices and would appreciate the tip.

I love your new abbreviation for association.

I honestly, truly thought "Block Ass'n" was some kind of new slang the kids are using that I missed out on.

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

Isn't block ass'n what straight men do in prison?

Worse than that, I misread the entire title and thought it said "Neighborhood Black Ass" Street Fairs.

I truly need to get a grip and some glasses.

It does sound like new slang. Lol.

"I'm horny, so I'm gonna go out ass'n"

I just wonder why only one word of seven was abbreviated. Were those extra six letters (seven, but the apostrophe evens one missing letter out) so hard to type?

I abbreviated it down to fit into the subject line I was posting overlooking the fit of humorous innuendo it could create. Of course once I posted it I saw there was plenty of room for the whole line to fit, but then, had I changed it, it could have created the reverberating tinge of the "Updated" mystery, not to mention denying this bit of fun. That said, I rather like it and I have a poet's license so you are stuck with it; I am not changing it.

I suppose I could have tried "Hood" for Neighborhood but coming at the beginning that would have scandalized as being far too KKK.

While block associations may at times be full of asses, they have good deals around here when the packrats regurgitate their conspicuous consumption. (Yes, I knew you needed a nice upchucking metaphor-of-the-day.)

Ho hum.

Back to the subject, if there is a subject. I've learned that the there is a Times Sq. Block Party on June 28th on 46th Street from Broadway to 8th Ave. Has anyone ever been to this one and is it any good or is it just the usual suspects of big street fair commercial sellers?

I like the (West) 44th St Block Association fair --it's 1 block, from Ninth - 10th Ave, and they do good things for the neighborhood.
