Hey, I am planning on attending the Playhouse this fall for their 2-year actor training program. I was wondering if any of my theatre friends have gone, and what your impressions were. I'm looking forward to your insight!

I saw a quirky show there a little while back, "theAtrainplays", because I knew some people who were affiliated with it. It was very, very well-done. Especially for the type of production that it was- written/scored in the length of a trip on the A train, rehearsed for one day, and staged the next night in front of an audience. I enjoyed myself immensely. Nice space, and, like I said, the place has to be pretty well-organized to throw something like that together.

"Goodness is rewarded. Hope is guaranteed. Laughter builds strong bones. Right will intercede. Things you've said I often find I need, indeed. I see the world through your eyes. What's black and white is colorized. The knowledge you most dearly prized I'm eager to employ. You said that life has infinite joys."

Not the neighborhood playhouse, but my former Meisner teacher used to run the neighborhood playhouse. He was an incredible teacher, but a horrible coach. He came out to Cali (that's where I worked with him) to start the Meisner Center here, but he speaks very highly of the neighborhood playhouse.

went to the playhouse. They do not require an audition therefore anyone can go. Expect 40 kids to be in your acting class and will probably get to work 2 times a week if you are lucky. If you get the teacher I had... all i can say is you will need luck.

Hey,
Thanks for your post. WOnder if I could get some more info. I guess you didnt do both years, because from what I understand there are only 25 people in the second year. Did you do the 2 year program or the summer intensive? How were the other classes such as the ballet and voice classes.
Thanks for any info you can provide. Also, what did they ask you at the interview?
