Not sure, but I have a hunch we might have some Alison Moyet fans among us. She hasn't had an album in 3 years and she hasn't had a hit album in a decade, but she's back with a very unusual collection of cover songs:
"Voice" will be released on September 6 and was produced by Anne Dudley. Songs include "Windmills of Your Mind," "The Man I Love," "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?" "Alfie" and a pair of Elvis Costello songs "Almost Blue" and "God Give Me Strength." Moyet also sings selections by Bizet, Purcell and the traditional Welsh song "The Waggle Taggle Gipsies-Oh!"

Oops, yes I did not realize this was the same album! With different graphics and a bonus track I was taken in!
The album is coming from Sanctuary, who has made a fortune working with artists who had big hits in the 80's. It will be released through Sony/BMG.

She oozes sex. And BOY do the lesbians love her. They practically rushed the stage and jumped her at the concert I attended. Of course, keeping the genders the same for 'Whispering Your Name' (which Jules Shear wrote about his girlfriend and now becomes about Alison's 'girlfriend') doesn't hurt.

I love Alf, but kind of sick of covers albums. I mean, kudos to her for picking a track selection better than that dreaful Annie Lennox, but still. It seems like so much treading water.
I wonder why they haven't plugged her into Chicago on this side of the pond?
In a realted topic, did anybody else see Erasure on their recent tour. They sure were fantabulous.

I have this album ("Voice") and was listening to it even before I saw this thread. I got it on Amazon marketplace...it was cheaper than getting it imported. Highly recommended...she is a goddess (and my current avatar).

Love the uniqueness of her voice..."Upstairs at Eric's" is a great album...though I haven't been crazy about her solo work, with the exception of "The First Time..."
Vasquez's "Ode to Boy" remix was also a good one.
Do you think if Andy Bell and Allison Moyet did a duet, we'd be able to tell them apart???
