Any other Goldfrapp fans on here? Their new album, 'Tales of Us' comes out in September. I wasn't a huge fan of their last album, 'Head First' and it's on-the-nose interpretation of 80s pop, but everything about this new release seems right. It clearly feels like a hybrid of their first lush, cinematic, wonderfully weird album 'Felt Mountain' and the pastoral, lovely 'Seventh Tree' but something about it feels new as well -- a sort of wistful grace that only comes with age.
Apparently, there will be several short films to accompany the singles. All of the songs are names of (semi?)-fictional characters Alison Goldfrapp is exploring.
The video for the first single, "Drew", came out a couple of days ago. I'm completely and utterly bewitched. I can't wait to see/hear more.
Warning, the vid is not entirely safe for work. Unless, you know, gorgeous naked man and lady-cakes are kosher.
