yeah it is and the rumors are that he is the model for the CGI loompas, so we will see hundreds of that little guy running around in the movie. CGI loompas or not, I think he looks just fine. It would be a mistake in my opinion to recreate the look of the ones from the first movie as they are trying to base this from the book and not remake the Wilder movie.

Not so much. I don't see Wonka molesting the poor children, at least not physically. Mentally though it has to be taxing to be shrunk or drowned in a river of chocolate.

Oh definitly. The Wonka character has often been compared to Satan or God in the sense of temptation. I mean take the scene where Augustus falls into the river. Here is this beautiful garden and you can eat everything!......but don't let me catch you drinking from that river. Well of course he is gonna drink the river. Alot of the other scenes follow this temptation route.

How is Wonka appropriately creepy? He wasn't creepy at all in the book. The creepiness was just layered on in one scene for the original film. Otherwise, Wonka appears eccentric, but not creepy.

I think they look great ... and frankly not creepy at all. Now the teaser that was posted yesterday was a little bit creepy, but these pics look pretty tame to me.
Wonka never struck me as creepy in the book, and I was a very easily frightened child.
Anyway, at least Depp doesn't look like he's wearing geisha makeup in those pics. I'm still not 100% convinced he's right for the role, but since I am convinced Burton is the right director and Depp is practically his muse...so be it.
