i saw a more recent news report on logo about this and it seems the pride events in nyc are now officially cancelled. i'm surprised i have not heard more about this. has pride run its course? do people care?

This is the dumb street fair that's turned into a street fair just like any other street fair.
But, no, Gay pride is NOT canceled.

good. the way the logo report ran on logoonline.com it made it sound like all nyc pride events were cancelled.
oh, and i am ashamed that i am not more "up" on my gay knowledge of nyc pride. i'm a bad gay.
oh, and somms, did you see that your boyfriend will be at new hope's pride this saturday?

PJ is correct... the city street fairs are all the same and this one is only slightly different(it has some Gay orgs setup with booths). The one good thing about that street fair is I can stock up on a years supply of .... well supplies.
Come to the queens parade. We have the same street fair a few weeks earlier.

I'm actually glad they cancelled it instead of settling for that cramped space on Washington St again. I only went to the festival down there once and it was not enjoyable, just because it's so crowded you can hardly move.
At the link I'm posting below they have info on what they planned for the Chelsea location and it sounds really nice. Hopefully they'll be able to get the permit for next year if they can't get it this year. Stupid city.

I have never understood the "pride" part, but the parade has obviously lost it's focus. One would hope the parade would be a time to unite, educate and empower it’s oppressed group but I’ve never seen that happen. Political candidates like Hillary and Bloomberg show up, but do very little afterwards in way of policy change. I think we need a movement now more than ever, but this parade does very little if anything for progress. It is nice to see new parades pop-up in Middle America and places where change needs to happen.
