do you ever get a longing, a strange pullsing longing for the big apple- i envy all of you who live there and hope to be back soon but i doubt it- just flipping through the sunday times and looking at all the ads (not too mention the comedy thing that looks AWESOME!) makes me wish more than anything to be in NYC. I need a bagel with creme cheese from the place next to the Minskoff. i need to eat at Pig Heaven in the upper east side, i need to go down to Washington Square, sit and watch the people go buy, i need to go and cross off all the shows on my off broadway list, meet all of you and finally go to Johns Pizzaria. until later New york- i'm yours forever...

I completely agree, CQtie, to the point where I'm willing to drop over a grand that I don't have for a few days there on my way back from Europe. Reading all the recent threads on the controversial Central Park art exhibit, midtown restaurants, openings, closings... *sigh*
O NYC. The only Valentine today that I really were were mine.

NO!!! It's expensive, it's crowded, it's dirty, it's noisy. I pay mega bucks to live in a hovel in the West Village where everytime the #1 train goes by I can feel the vibration.

I remember the New York of the 50's even thought I saw only remnants of it in the 60's
1. The old Times Square with all the old picture palaces & everything that made the old Times Square special
2. Penn Station - I never saw the old Penn station until I went off to navy boot camp in 1966 & they were already tearing it down
3. Ebbetts Field & the old Brooklyn Dodgers
4. The Automat
5. Going to my own local palace in Astoria where a little kid found amazement & wonder on the screen & in the theater
6. Going to Nedicks &The Brass Rail etc etc
These are my NY Blues

Posted: 2/14/05 at 10:23pmWhen I first moved here, I was exactly like you. Now that I've been here for 13 or so years, it's not exciting like it was when I first moved here. It becomes just another town. Don't get me wrong; I could never live anywhere else.

Posted: 2/15/05 at 1:57amI not only miss NYC, I miss the east coast all together. Don't take me wrong, I love the NW, but there's a certain something about back east that I miss terribly.
