Don't get me started on the whole PSL ordeal. My family has had season tickets for The Jets since the mid sixties during their days at Shea. When they moved to Giants Stadium they figured out who got what setas in order of seniority. We ended up with better seats then we originally had at Shea. Fine, that is great. We loved being behind the endzone in the front row of the Mezz. However, there is one decent size section of seats in the new stadium that doesn't have a PSL attached to it that is reserved for long term ticket holders. Now, when my father was thinking about getting tickets for The Jets agian, we figured that we would be a shoe in for that particular section considering how long we have had tickets for.
However, we were wrong. We didn't even come close to qualifying for that particular section and we were puzzled as to why. When my father sent a letter to The Jet's offices asking why this was, they said that they got rid of their ticket holder records from their Shea Stadium days and started off the count with people who started their time as Jets season ticket holders with the first season in Giants Stadium. Of course we are pissed, however, my Dad felt it important that the Jets tickets stayed in the family for years to come so he caved in and got the tickets with the PSL. However, we shouldn't have had to do that.
I guess the point that I was trying to make in my original post was that originally, the Giants chose to play in The Meadowlands, whereas, The Jets, did so not by choice. More because they had no where else to play.
And, I agree that there is a huge fight between which team is at the top of the peacking order. The NFL did a coin toss to figure out which team would have the first home game there, Giants won the toss. However, Jets owner Woody Johnson wasn't there and was bitching about them holding the tooss without him. So, to calm him down, they gave The Jets the first Monday Night Football game of the season as a home game so The Jets could showacase their half of the new stadium on national television for all to see.
