The DVD of this great, underrated film was released this past week, and it is a fabulous transfer. The extras aren't that great (a lot are holdovers from the laser disc), but I'm just so excited to have this on DVD. Liza wasn't even nominated for it, and that is a crime!

Liza was incredible in that film. Anyone who claims to be a fan of hers and hasn't seen it, must rent it immediately.

i loved the film. but to be honest i didn't see because of minnelli, i saw it because i am a HUGE Scorcese and DeNiro fan.

Or just buy it. It is very reasonably priced at $15.

A quote from the USA Today's *** 1/2 review:

"Someone once called it 'the first wife-beating musical'".

I picked up a copy today. Glad to hear it's a good transfer. It's been on my DVD wish list for years. Can't wait to sit down and watch it tomorrow.

This is the film that began the Minnelli/Scorcese liason that almost scuttled Liza's show THE ACT...

Wasn't CAROUSEL the first wife beating musical?

I just love the "Happy Endings" number with the late great Larry Kert.

I hear if you lock a straight guy in a room and play him "Happy Endings", "Born in a Trunk" and the Israeli "Peter Pan", it'll turn him gay by morning....

I've had the laserdisc box set for years. Happy Endings is a big wonderful mess--like Liza!

I adored Larry Kert--saw him in Company 4 times and once in a solo cabaret show before he died.

The re-released Company CD has his "Being Alive" as an extra at the end. So much better than the tight-assed Dean Jones.
