New Yorkers, buy your Metrocards

New Yorkers, buy your Metrocards#0

Today starts the sale of the holiday metrocards. The unlimited card is for a 41 day period (Nov 23-Jan 2). The MTA website says "While supplies last". So obviously this discount is only as good as availability.

Pity I'm going to be out of town for such a large chunk of that time. I'd certainly love to take advantage of it...Are they still doing the $1/ride thing too? At least that'd be something!

But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)

Aside from monthy cards, can't we just continue to buy regular cards at the machines, and they'll deduct $1 instead of $2 every time?

Yeah, I just looked it up:

Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard or Cash
How do I get the holiday half fare bonus?
Simply use your Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard the same way you always do. The subway turnstile or bus farebox will register the payment at $1 for regular customers and 50 cents for Reduced-Fare customers. If you pay cash on the bus, simply pay $1 in coins (no pennies).
