On Deep Discount DVD future releases show Batman Season 1 but does not give details
Is the caped crusader really coming to DVD. Holy crap Batman. I hope so. I loved that show as it was so entertaining & the villans were so over the top

You're so camp, Mr. Roxy.
Are you talking about the 1960's tv show with Adam West and Burt Ward? The show I loved as a kid and have been waiting for years to come out on dvd? What is this deep discount? Are they selling it? Are they taking pre release orders? I need details.
DeepDiscount DVD is a great website
They sell DVD's @ great prices with no shipping. All it says is Batman 1 st season so unless there was another Batman series I do not know about I would assume that is it. As the release date nears, I assume more detailed info will be forthcoming
In the meantime, they do have the TV movie Back To The Batcave available
Try not to get your hopes up, gang.
This is one of the most highly requested DVDs out there now, and there is no word that it is coming out any time soon. The issue is an old one in Hollywood: Who owns the rights?
Until they iron this little detail out, you won't get an official release date... ever. It's currently been on the "let's release this now" list for about four years. They can't get past the clearances.
This is wonderful news.
I've been waiting for this for quite some time. I am a huge Batman geek and this being in my collection is long overdue.
Check their website & see what it says
I checked the website and it says the ANIMATED series. NOT the live-action series with Adam West. Sorry to disappoint Roxy.
But thanks for the tip about DeepDiscount.com
I did, Mr. Roxy. I believe you're looking at the complete first season of the ANIMATED series.
Sorry to burst your bubble.
Just so you don't think I'm a flake, I work on these releases... the various animated ones, the feature film releases (including last years Batman Returns and The Batman Anthology of 2-disc versions for the older films, etc.).
If you're "jonesin'" for a taste of the old TV show, you might try "Batman - The Movie" released by Fox Home Video. It has many of the original TV villains in it, plus Lee Meriwether subbing for Julie Newmar as Catwoman). It has a fun commentary track on it as well, plus a nice "Making-Of."
EDIT: It was filmed during hiatus between the first and second seasons as a way to promote the TV series in Europe.
Batman - The Movie
Have the movie
Oh well . Eventually this has to come to DVD. I was not even aware of an animated series
Hard to believe the series was 40 years ago. This is getting really scary
The fans speak very loudly... and there are various petitions around to get the show released. If enough people weigh in on studio Web sites, etc... I'm sure they'll figure out a way to divi-up the money and move forward.
But, like I said... it's been about 4 years already, and no discs.
If you do ase arch on Batman on that site then click TV Series, it odes list a season 1 and 2 to be released in September and it appears to be different from the animated series which they have listed.
I have the movie and love it, but Lee Meriweather just isn't the same as Julie Newmar.
I loved Eartha Kitt who seems to have aged better than Newmar
The series might have lasted longer once a week as opposed to twice a week. It was so well written & the actors were having a ball playing the villans
Maybe it is coming out after all. I will be ordering from deep discount other things & will e mail them to get the true story
Stay tuned
Wow! I see that.
So... this is either an early "leak," or it's just incorrect info.
I did a search just now on other sites to see if anyone else has it down with a calendar release date and I haven't found another one yet.
I did find this article on TVShowsOnDVD.com though, explaining some of the confusion.

I can ask around at work... but unless it's an official announcement to the public, I won't be able to confirm it either way.
Nevermind.
orion59 --- The Seasons 1 & 2 listing is for the ANIMATED series as well. Selling for $29.02. Released through Warner Home Video who handles the animated series.

Once again, the Web site has neglected to list it as ANIMATED. I'm sure they will, once enough people write them to ask about it.
EDIT: Mr. Roxy--- you make a good point that this series was aired TWICE a week. It will have double the amount of normal episodes for a 1966 TV show. That's roughly 60 episodes per season. Don't look for these to be cheaply priced whenever they do come out. You're looking at about 7-8 disc sets, per season, just for the bare-bones episodes alone.
If anyone hears anything reliable, please post the info. I have been waiting for so long for this series to be released. In the mean time, I have to be satisfied with few reruns I was able to tape from Nick At Night a few years ago.
"I loved Eartha Kitt who seems to have aged better than Newmar"
It's funny, Julie Newmar was stunning up until a couple of years ago. I met her about 3 or fours years ago and she was beautiful. It seems that shortly after that, her face lift started to give out and she didn't bother to have it redone.....maybe she figured she would look freakish if she had another.
Eartha, on the other hand, is better looking than she has been in years. She looks better now than she did twenty years ago.
Just read the message about it being the animated series...my day is ruined. I was so excited for a while.
orion59 --- Sorry!
Believe me, I feel your pain. SO many people are waiting for this release... and everyone connected with it knows it.
EDIT: (hehehe--I just got a kick out of our "dueling Montys" avs!)
Hasn't the animated series has been out for a while, hasn't it?
The problem as Best12 says is that Warner Bros. owns the rights to the character of Batman, but Twentieth Century did the series. I am sure they will be released eventually, but that stinking red-tape crap. I just hope they get it done before the principals are all dead and unable to do the commentary.
"Batman: The Animated Series" has been out for a while.
I suspect that this is for the new series on the WB called "The Batman".
Believe me, we get them confused at work all the time.
I'm not sure which it is here... It could be just a packaging of the first & second seasons of what's already been released individually...
"...at the incredibly low bargain price of!!..."
But you're right, it's either the animated Batman or THE Batman.
I have Season 1 of B:TAS and I need to get the rest, so I'd be fine with a "New low price!" bonanza.
I have gone back and forth on rebuying the Burton/Schumacher box set that recently came out to replace my individual discs.
The DTS sound would be lovely, but I am not sure I can justify spending $60 to upgrade the sound when I can't really "let it out" in my apartment anyway.
Are the transfers much cleaner, B12B?
