So Disney had this hit with REMEMBER THE TITANS which, I admit, was a very good movie that I enjoy and bought on DVD.
Since they have had MIRACLE, GREATEST GAME EVER PLAYED, and I just saw a preview for a basketball movie coming out which looks EXACTLY like TITANS, racial issues and all, but just a different sport.
What's next? Croquet? ENOUGH already!
(And they've done sports movies before, too. There's the MIGHTY DUCKS franchise and I know I'm forgetting another film.)
I'd much rather them work on getting their act together on their animated feature films. HOME ON THE RANGE was awful. Without Pixar they're dead.

Apparently, there is a Mighty Ducks 4 in the works.
Giving us all an excuse to say "THE QUACK ATTACK IS BACK, JACK!!!" one final sweet time.

Posted: 10/12/05 at 12:36amThere comes a time in every emotionally stunted chronologically grown up male's life when he finally has to admit that Disney is not for him anymore. Capn, you'll probably experience this in the next several years.

I enjoyed Natural Treasurer.. I heard they wer being sued by the Da Vinci Code people. But not sure.
And I think The Greatest Game Ever Played looks like a good movie.
I think they do a good job... and make good movies, let Disney be.

Posted: 10/12/05 at 12:40amWhile I doubt it will happen anytime soon, they really need their hand drawn division back. The trouble was not the fact that hand drawn is dead, it was the fact that the stories they were using sucked ass. BRING BACK THE LION KING-ESQUE MUSICALS!

Mighty Ducks 4?! Ugh, Disney is just raping my childhood memories. And if you think the sports movies are overkill, never watch the Disney Channel original movies. I swear, they've had about 200 and they all have the same 3 scripts rotating.
Cruel_Sandwich, I agree, they seriously need to stop. I'm not thinking of myself, I'm thinking of the future generations. Disney hasn't made a good original animated (non-Pizar) in about 8 years, because they're putting all their effort into making crappy, half-assed, straight to video sequels to their classic movies.
I remember going to the movies for the first time and seeing Peter Pan at it's re-release and The Little Mermaid. My parents didn't have to wait around for Disney to open their vault and give us the hand-me-down movies, because Disney was still creating good movies. What I loved about growing up when I did was that I could watch the classics like Snow White and Cinderella, but still have new movies coming out to give us new stories and characters to enjoy.
Oh god, I just read they're making a straight to video Bambi 2. That's like peeing in the Holy Grail.

lol to peeing the Holy Grail...
I'd have to agree, they need to leave classics alone.

i think there was something about Da Vinci Code people sueing Disney but that dies down. not sure if it happened.
Has anyone seen The Swan Princess? It's not disney, but one of my favorite cartoon movies. And they have made sequels which i have not seen and don't really care on seeing.
and talking about sequels, what number are they on with Land before time? i think it is 11. that is crazy. i liked the original movie and one song from the 5th one.

Posted: 10/12/05 at 2:23pmI am sad to admit that I actually want to see Bambi 2...lol. It's the story of Bambi being raised by his father. It looks very sweet. I suck.

Bambi 2 raised by Dad... Let's hear it for the non-traditional family!
And honestly, I'm looking forward to Lion Witch Wardrobe. It looks superb.

Posted: 10/13/05 at 4:39pmI kind of want to see Bambi 2 too. It looks sweet and I am a sucker for sweetness. Disney does need to return to their roots otherwise I am going to be telling my kids, "when I was your age there was this great company that made wodnerful cartoons called Disney."
