Can you play Nintendo Gamecube games on a Nintendo Wii? Someone told me this... is it true?

I've never heard this (and I worked at a video/game rental store when the Wii came out). I doubt it because the discs are different dimensions, but I might be wrong...

Most of the GameCube games are backwards compatible.

In order to play GameCube games on a Wii you have to have a Game Cube controller which can connect via a port on the front of the Wii. Wireless GameCube controllers work as well.
