Posted: 8/11/05 at 3:20pmCary Grant...I re-watched 'Bachelor Knight' recently and apart from this being a great film, I realised this is why I got a huge crush on Grant. He and Myrna Loy were wonderful and the script is top-notch. I think he looks at his most handsome here, especially when he wins the trophy at the garden party and he's gotten kind of 'scruffed-up'. Does anyone else love Cary Grant??

Posted: 8/11/05 at 3:23pmThat film is known by its original American title: THE BACHELOR AND THE BOBBY-SOXER. It's a fun film.

Posted: 8/11/05 at 3:26pmThat was it's original title CM2, but BBC in their wisdom always screen it as Bachelor Knight. I suppose for some reason they might think the British don't know what Bobby-sox are. It is a terrific film. Grant makes everything look so easy - he had everything in spades. And wouldn't there be a line forming to partner him in the wheelbarrow race?????

Posted: 8/11/05 at 3:27pmQuite. I"m just acting like a superior American. I only ever saw the film with the BACHELOR KNIGHT title, but my parents told me otherwise.

I also enjoyed 'The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer" but my favorite Grant/Loy pairing is 'Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House.' Have them both on dvd...and their radio adaptations. Grant later did a radio series of Blandings with his then wife, Betsy Drake.
But my favorite Grant film has to be 'Notorious.'

Mr. Blandings is my favourite. LOVE Cary, love Myrna and love love love Melvyn Douglas! That film had the best lines. I've probably butchered it but my fave always was:
Jim Blandings: *something like* why doesn't Bill go and get married or something?
Muriel Blandings: Because he can't find another girl as pretty and sweet and wholesome as I am.
I LOVE Myrna's delivery.
