A friend of mine and I were discussing how to combine two of our passions in life, theatre and making a difference in kids lives. We started tossing around the idea of starting a non-profit theatre group for underpriveledged kids. We would probably want another program as part of it which would be working with children with disabilities. We might just make it an inclusive program though. We are just now starting to toss around ideas. It's something we probably wouldn't try to start until after we graduate college, but I was wondering if anyone has heard of any groups out there like this. We are trying to see how these groups get started, how much time it would take etc. This is something we are both serious about doing so I thought I would ask to see if anyone could point us in the right direction to help get started on researching this. Thanks!

Yes, I have. I'm in a Children's Theatre class right now, and we've been having research projects on various children's theatres presented over the last couple of classes. Some are not-for-profit, some aren't. Some are for underpriveledged kids, some are insanely expensive. If you want, after all the presentations are done, I'll make a list of all the websites for the various groups so that you can check out their operations and mission statements. Let me know if that would be helpful.

I starred in a short film called Magnetic Personality. Check it out!
