The Sacramento Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints will be open for public tours for a few weeks beginning at the end of July. This is a unique opportunity to see the interior, learn about the purpose of temples, etc before the temple is dedicated and closed to the public.
Here's a link with more information. If you can go, please do!

er, this is the church that went door to door to STOP the CA gay marriage bill........I personally experienced this at my home.
and this is the church that AFTER these wonderful new Temple tours, cleans the Temple top to bottom so the unclean, ie non-Mormans do not pollute them.
no I do not want to see their house....they are notoriously anti-gay.......
not meaning to offend beacon, but information that may be of interest for some

no problem Elphaba. Everyone is entitled to their opinions/feelings.
As for the cleaning of the temple: It isn't to get rid of "non-member dirt". It's the fact that thousands of folks come through on the tours and the temple is just re-cleaned before it is dedicated for ordinance work.
I've been on the cleaning teams and it's just a clean-up after huge crowds have walked through over several weeks. The contractors/tradesworkers (who may/or may not be members of the LDS Church) also are there making final adjustments to building systems (HVAC, plumbing, etc.)
It's what any organization would do after large tour groups have passed through a new building--and as preparation for an important event. Anyone who told you otherwise has, unfortunately, given you incorrect information.
