This saga with the Mayor has been going on since 2003, it's just that formal charges were filed today. Spitzer's case has nothing on dramaKwame's. A lot of city lawyers and other officials could go down with Kwame M. Kilpatrick. The county prosecutor indicated she has been in contact with the US attorney's office regarding her investigation. The name of the state's Attorney General has been thrown around a lot in the public grapevine and a little in the media and the Kwamemommy is US Representative Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, current Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus.
The Mayor's lead attorney is high profile Daniel Webb ~ $700/hr billing. Everyone has been asking how he's being paid and who's paying him since he's waaaay over Kwame's budget and is the most recent of a number of high cost lawyers.
Kwame's already cost the city millions in taxpayer money via lawsuits and a suit asking for $150 million is still pending.

Posted: 3/24/08 at 9:30pmThe sad thing is that the city had been making a bit of progress until this sh*t hit the fan. Now, if things continue to fall apart because he won't step down, receivership will be more likely. If the city loses the pending $150 million case receivership's a virtual certainty.
