I have this problem, which I recently found out is common, in which I can warm up to High C. But, I can not even come close to hitting one while looking at the sheet music. So when I auditoned to take voice lessons I sang "This is The Moment" from J&H and "Heaven On Their Minds" from JCSS. (Using Karaoke Tracks) Now that I'm finished what are the higest notes in those songs? And has anyone else noticed this about themselves?

I have NEVER met Cheyenne Jackson. I have never hung out with him in his dressing room, he did not tweet me, he never bought me a beverage, and he mostly certainly didn't tickle me. . .that is all.

OMG I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!!! I have recently been working on developing a smooth transition from chest to head voice and I havent really become comfortable with the head voice yet. When i look at a piece of sheet music i sort of psyche myself out and decide that its "to high" but when i warm up i just soar past the "to high" notes. wow i thought i was the only one with this problem but i think im in the same boat haha!!

Lol my problem is the exact opposite- I can't warm up to the notes AT ALL, but once I start a song that has a hig c or whatnot in it, I'm absolutely fine. I've heard of more people being able to warm up to it than hit it in context though. No idea what it means...

Both songs have Highest pitches of an A. Hope that helps.

Also, because they are A's you may THINK you're warming up to a C...but because it is a 3rd below it is very possible that you are mistaking your A for a C. Vocal Pedagogie is a real dinger sometimes.

Hope it helps :)

I have this problem sometimes, though as I've gotten more training it's gotten better, but when I see a high note on a page I tend to tense up to try to hit it, which is the exact opposite of what you should do when hitting the high notes. Though I'll sing along with oldies on the radio or something and later find out it's way higher than I think I can sing.

Again, I know this is the student board, but come on.
