He could have taken a plea deal before the trial for much less jail time.
I guess he thought he was Superman & escape it twice. At least the Goldman family finally got the justice denied them previously.

DO we know how much time he would have got with the plea deal?
The legal analyst on CNN said it would have probably been about 3 years, assuming he plead guilty to certain lesser charges and agreed to testify against the other guy.
