Im really really excited that I have the chance to audition for the Alberta Opera next week. Im auditioning for thier "Children's Opera Chorus" which essentially does classical musical theatre for kids in elementary school. Its a paid, touring thing. It would allow me to quit my day job(!!!) for a whole year and do what I love, for money, for the first(and maybe only) time in my life. Hence, I am extremely nervous. As some of you BWW veterans know, I am disabled in the lightest sense of the word(Im pretty sure someones daughter has CP like me, is it supportivemom maybe? My memory fails me today). Unfortunately, it sometimes hinders my "career" in theatre. This would be such a huge chance for me, and I dont want to have anything within my control go wrong. I will not let this go on account of something I could have should have or would have done better. If it goes because I have Cerebral Palsy, theres nothing I can do. But, I will do everything in my ability to knock em dead.
Thats where you lovely people come in.

Here are my audition pieces, monolougue included. Watch and give me feedback? I have a thick skin. I promise I can take it.
*I am not posting this on the student board as I am not a student anymore. However, seeing as it pertains to an audition, it can be moved if it needs to be.
*I was attending forbidden broadway the night I taped this, which is why I am so shiny...no thats not what Ill wear to the audition :)
Thanks guys!
Love and miss you!

You down with O.P. Pinions? Yeah, you know me! Namo by nature.
I'll comment a little later when I have more time. However, my daughter does not have CP. And is it a Canadian thing to spell opinions with 2 "p's"? I thought it was a typo at first but then I see it on your youtube video as well. Anyway, I'll critique later. Thanks.
I have friends in Canada, but I've never seen them spell it that way. I have no idea?
Ok- first of all, the light is very distracting. Really wish I could see your face more. I did not know you had a slight case of CP and neither will the people who audition you. They will see you like everyone else. Seems like you have a nice little vibrato and a sweet quality. However, seems like you have trouble hitting the high notes and you are breathy and pitchy in a lot of places. I'd like to see more confidence and a lot more excitement- even in your monologue. I know it's uncomfortable filming yourself but get past that and cut out some of the dialog before you start as that will lose people. You've got to become the character and I'm not sure I saw that in this video. Hope that helps and good luck!
hi guys!
Yes it must be a Canadian thing, Ive spelt it that way my whole life. LOL@Namo!! Thanks for making me smile.
And thanks supportive mom for your support and critique, I ap(p)reciate it :)
Perhaps I should have it taken down some..we'll see.
Well I'm no expert so I can't really give you any advice, but I can wish you luck!
