Maybe its your wording but he has lost on clay in the past 12 years. Last year and in 2011 he lost in Rome(Italian Open) to Djokovic. Those are the two that come to mind. There must be others but haven't the time to research it at the moment.

Seriously mis-worded...it was the 1st time in 12 yrs that he failed to advance from the semis to the title round of a clay court tournament. Dude has an extraordinary 46-7 title record on clay. Title stats at the jump, notwithstanding the source.
